The Chelsea Police Department’s Animal Control Officer exists to serve the needs of the people and the animals in our community.

Animal Control Officer Joao Teixeira is part of the department’s Community Services Division and works closely with the MSPCA, the Massachusetts Animal Coalition, the Animal Rescue League of Boston and the North Shore Animal Hospital of Lynn in order to promote and ensure public health and safety. Officer Teixeira is tasked with vigorously enforcing the animal laws of the Commonwealth and the city of Chelsea.

Animal Control Services:

  • Facilitate responsible pet ownership.
  • Provide care, and nourishment, and humane treatment for stray, abused, or neglected animals.
  • Investigate cases of animal cruelty, animal attacks, and;
  • Provide prompt and courteous service.
Hours of Operation 

Monday, Wednesday & Thursday: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tuesday: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Friday: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
